Mission-Chiropractic Relief Efforts in Haiti
Mamaroneck, NY – January 27, 2010 - Hello this is Peter H. Morgan, DC and the Mission-Chiropractic Haitian relief team reporting to you regarding our recent Mission-Chiropractic trip to Haiti.  Thanks to your recent donations, we were able to make the first post-quake chiropractic mission trip to Haiti a reality.  As you know, we returned from Haiti the day before the quake struck, and last week we returned to Haiti.  After our time spent there, we are planning a succession of trips for continued relief aid, support, and care.
Our first team of 15 Mission-Chiropractors and support staff just returned from Haiti on Sunday, January 25, 2010.  Chiropractic advocate and Haitian citizen Saurel Charles joined us on our voyage to Port Au Prince and invited us to stay in his house and property as we embarked to SERVE the Haitian people.  As this trip began there were multiple objectives:  to offer Chiropractic care to the injured and non-injured people; to bring state-of-the-art water filtration systems to communities; to distribute food and water; and to offer hope, faith and service to humanity.
Through the generosity of KX Technolgies in West Haven Connecticut, we were able to install five water filtration systems in five different locations.  These systems will be used to provide clean drinking water to entire communities.  Among the recipients were: a makeshift hospital in the rubble of the worst hit section in Port Au Prince; a community ambulance service that was nearly totally destroyed; the house of the Pastor in the community that we adopted; the home of our Haitian host and patient Saurel Charles; and a community church associated with Stepping Stones Ministries.
We rented three large SUVs and filled them with food and water.  We brought our chiropractic tables along and adjusted a few thousand people in “Tent City” refugee camps around the corner from the Capitol building.  The next day we ventured into the fields behind the U.S. Embassy where we offered low tech bandaging and wound care.  We adjusted hundreds of people that were living in the fields.  They were living in makeshift tents constructed with sticks and bed sheets.  As we worked on these people, they continually begged us for food and water stating, “We have not had a drink of water in 6-10 days.  WE NEED FOOD and WATER!!”  We provided food, water, and adjustments throughout the city of Port Au Prince.  Two associates of our team served in the hospitals assisting in amputations and delivering babies.  As we drove around the city providing water to the thirsty, we noticed that there were no other groups providing this service.  Just by coincidence our Stepping Stones Ministries’ building and safe haven was in the same neighborhood as our Haitian host and Chiropractic patient Saurel Charles.  This community was almost completely destroyed. The school, church, and most homes are gone.  We have decided to adopt this community.
In Sincere Gratitude,

Peter H. Morgan, DC and Mission-Chiropractic Haitian Relief Team

Mission-Chiropractic: HAITI ~ Mission Statement

OUR MISSION is to provide full-time chiropractic at a selected location in Port Au Prince. We also intend to rebuild the school, church, and many homes.  We would like to build a shelter at the home of Saurel Charles.  We intend to continue to distribute water and food.  The people in this community begged us to not forget them.  We will not. Our plans are to have three-to-five full-time chiropractors at this site until our mission is accomplishedWe are asking for the chiropractic profession to support our chiropractic mission.  We need Chiropractors’ skill, time, support, and volunteers to serve this mission.  There are several ways to contribute:
1. YOU CAN SERVE AS A CHIROPRACTOR AND SERVANT in HAITI.  We are asking for a week of your time, energy, and skill.  We have a created a safe infrastructure and are working to integrate with groups that have had a presence in Haiti for over 33 years.  Our team will stay at my patient’s gated home near the U.S. Embassy.
2. YOU CAN SUPPORT this mission financially by funding this project  PERSONALLY/PROFESSIONALLY.
3. YOU CAN ENROLL PATIENTS IN YOUR OFFICE TO DONATE MONEY, CLOTHES, and even ADOPT a family.
4.YOU CAN OFFER SERVICES IN YOUR OFFICE WITH ALL PROCEEDS DONATED TO MISSION CHIROPRACTIC-HAITI  ON OUR NATIONAL SERVICE DAY ON FEBRUARY 24, 2010.
5 YOU CAN Schedule a four-Hour “Get in Shape” Conference at your local church or organization.  Generate funds for our Haitian relief project and put new patients in your office at the same time.
Please donate to Mission Life International, our tax-exempt IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit.  All donations are tax deductible.  We look forward to working with everyone in our Chiropractic family as we bond together to support Haiti, humanity and our hearts.
